These salmon bites are great on top of dal rice, salad, or in a bowl with veggies and sauce. We love salmon as it’s quick, doesn’t make a mess, and comes out perfectly. Finger fish is also one of our favorites, so I hope you enjoy these tender bites as much as we do. To fry salmon for quick meals and bowls, I love to cut them into medium sizes and season them with spices and finalize with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Kachumber Salad Mumbai Style
I grew up eating kachumber paired with a selection of rice dishes, so adding them is nothing new to me. Its base is creamy, thick, and has a crunchy, flavorful texture. This lightened classic fresh salad made from scratch uses no mayonnaise that most recipes call for. It comes out crisp and so delicious, perfect on biryani or pulav. Different varieties of salads are my favorite things to make ahead of lunch, from yogurt dip salad, simple greens salad, thick russian salad, or beetroot salad, to name a few.

Not So Savoury Zarda Rice
Biryani is that one dish that has an intensifying, humongous list of fragrant spices. Biryani will always be close to my heart, especially because this was the first dish I tried my hands on. If you’re a newbie and want to dedicate your hours to cooking, you should first attempt to make simple recipes NAH! If you ask me – WHENEVER YOU ARE LEARNING ANYTHING I MEAN ANY BIG OR SMALL SKILL. FOCUS MORE ON THE DIFFICULT TASK – IF YOU SOMEHOW REACH THE HARDER SCALE THEN YOUR SIMPLE TASKS BECOME SIMPLER. Yes, believe me, apply this simple approach in your daily life, and you will be amazed by the flexibility of your mind. I hope my trick does wonder in your beautiful life.

Night Supper: Chicken, Cheese Pasta in Pink Sauce
Summer means something fresh and peng and I think pasta is the one dish that screams summer. One of the easiest ways to add deliciousness to pasta is to amalgamate a handful dose of protein and veggies which keeps the portion healthy. Be sure to be generous in the addition of spices for the perfect balance of kick so don’t be shy.

Okra in Yogurt Sauce
If you call for some easy lunch dishes to make this summer, you will love this rich and flavor filled bhindi recipe. Bhindi means Okra in Hindi, which is within reach in season all year long. Maybe, this is one of the reasons you’ll spot okra made in different style, look and taste in the houses of India. Besides this, okra helps to cut down bad cholesterol, protects the brain, lowers the risk of kidney damage, and rules out the anxiety. For this Indian Okra Curry, I take a batch of okra, wash and pat dry them, shallow fry and simmer with fragrantly yogurt sauce forming good looking lunch.

A cordial made with split chickpeas and bottle gourd
There is a light in the sky beyond the layers of cloud, maybe this is a contrast to the evening sky like a slate. I always have a bag of lentils at hand and this is a bright colored curry that is full of flavors and memory. This dish is what I make when I am missing my parents and Mumbai so very much. On most days, time goes by, work lends the day structure marking the territory between the week and its end. But the bad days have been bad, and I have been feeling the distance and being unable to see my dear ones.

Salubrious Soya Chunks
I make veg recipes in so many ways, especially since I’m Indian, my husband’s Pakistani, my family is a melting pot, and our different ethnic cuisines inspire a lot of my recipes, which are often a fusion of all these cultures. Soya chunks, also known as soya beans, are a delicious version of meat bites, they are a quick, easy and healthy dish that demands minimal prep and not much hands-on cooking time, making it pretty easy to pull together when you’re in hurry yet looking for something flavorsome to eat.

Shinwari Chicken Karahi
It was a hot night at the tail end of June. At shinwari restaurant, there was a queue of people waiting for their turn. Even in the heat people were happily eating outdoors, a sign that covid had transformed people’s behavior. Covid meant that there was minimal dining experience, so we ordered takeaway Chicken Karahi, dropping the idea of outdoor dining. That was my first taste of it, delicious, and since then I have been trying different ways to bring out my Karahi taste just like the taste served outside. This Pakistani Karahi is a pure treat for my husband. I cooked a vegan meal for myself and this karahi version only for him. I have added a few warm spices to the mix; a little coriander, cumin, flakes, pepper and all spice.

Soft Dahi Wadas
Eid calls for outings on chaand raat to get stamps of heena on my palms, buying bangles and intense shopping and amazing food. The glittery bangles are always rough on my skin and clothing, so I prefer the plain matte kinds. There are boxes holding an array of multicolored bangles, illuminated by naked light bulbs suspended on a slim wire. I am not a person who makes multiple visits to the tailor to retrieve clothes that never get stitched on time. I and hashim dislike tailor troubles and this task requires a lot of patience, so we take a shorter route and buy the readymade attire for Eid. And my Eid day becomes a special day when hashim surprises me with fresh and perfumed jasmine bangles.

Oil-Free, Instant Spongy Dosa
Making dosa with only two ingredients is the easiest and the quickest way, eliminating the need to soak, grind and ferment overnight. This is a perfect summer recipe made with semolina and curd for a scrumptious dinner and a great addition to your breakfast table. You can also revamp it by adding mashed seasoned potatoes to the center of each dosa.

Chicken Dim Sum | Chicken Momos
I cannot think of a certain cuisine or culture with no version of chicken soup. Folk medicine and chicken soup have a symbolic relationship because every mother or granny I have known always recommends chicken soup or dal rice as the restorative technique for coughs and colds. I must admit I am not too keen on plain yakhni soup as have to drink mugs of flavorsome broth while other soothing foods are time-consuming. I would rather shortlist the dim sum with some suggestions – Hashim fancies the dumpling with chicken and fresh veggies wrapped and steamed which would also be my choice. So when either of us is going through a slow recovery from cold or fever we would prefer to hog steamed dim sum, as they are super delicious, oil-free and the perfect fix for reduced appetite.

Meethi Kadhi Gujarati Style
Meethi Dal or Meethi Kadhi is very common in Gujarati houses and is generally served as a side dish. It teams well with rice dishes like khichdi, vegetable pulao, and even with bhakri. There are oodles of ways to reshape the kadhi recipe and it changes state-wise. Mostly, kadhi recipes are given a touch of sour and spicy taste with a thick consistency, but this one flow towards the sweet side and is less thick.

Nothing better than Delish Peas Pulav
We are rice eaters in our house and one of my pièce de résistance in vegetarian meals is Matar Pulav. We Indians have separate fandom for peas and paneer in our dishes - it’s a great source of protein. The aroma that fills your kitchen while cooking rice and peas, eliminates the need to watch and stir it the entire time. Instant pot recipes are a lifesaver as they are the fastest and can be modified as per the plan.

Vada Pav – Vegan Doppleganger Burger
Pri and I spend our Sunday chit-chatting, the last time we met was in twenty o twelve when she visited my home back in Mumbai. Now she is back in Toronto, and much has happened since.

Chicken Resha Kebab
I make them with chicken, and lots of cheese, they are super moist, tender, and flavoursome. This Kebab recipe is great for make-ahead meals. They will last in the fridge for up to 2 days, although they last more than a week – my advice would be to make less and eat fresh rather than freezing food for weeks - not a healthy choice.

Veg Manchurian Balls
Vegetable Manchurian Balls + Chicken Fried Rice |
Oh my word! They have bomb of all the different flavors and are so tender that they melt in your mouth! These tasty Chinese Veg Balls are always a hit with my family. And, let’s not forget the sauce, the Chinese gravy really makes the dish. While most Manchurian balls call for a few veggies, I use a variety of wonderful veggies to enhance its health factor.

Dairy Free Fruit Salad Medley
Wonderful salad for snacking, this is a great raw and naturally tasty alternative. Sweet, crunchy fruits topped with crushed walnuts and almonds are perfect lactose-free treat. I usually love the chill weather, seeing the leaves change colors and fruits showing up with its wonderful aroma in the air and all the wonderful things we can do when the weather cools. The fruit salad is perfect season gift as its light, requires no cooking, absolutely delicious and so addicting. You can use whichever fruit your heart desires! No dependency on any season. I love to make this particular one, again and again, because they are easy to make, and not too sweet.

Green Peas and Ridge Gourd
Both separately cooks in under 30-minutes from start to tummy! These veggies give a deeper taste when added in a velvety sauce. Peas are my favorite; I have TONS of other wonderful Peas Recipes in the search box. These two recipes are very nutritious and so delicious! They are a good source of fiber, and veggies during winters are loaded with freshness and full of vitamins and minerals. Although I don’t want winter to end, I am looking ahead to more variation of vegetable dishes and vegan soups. The aromatic curry is Indian inspired, made with phenomenal spices. It cooks quickly and all in one pan, making it an excellent choice for an easy lunch on a busy day.

House Favorite Palak Pulao
Spinach Rice |
Palak Pulao is a rice dish using spinach that can be served
as a side or meatless main dish.
I love to bulk up spinach with rice, so my family can’t pick the greens out. And the truth is, Hashim never know it’s in there! Rice and spinach cook together, which gives the rice its green color. Onions, garlic, cumin, and whole spices give this dish so much aroma. This simple rice recipe is an easy one-pot meal. On a busy weeknight, this dish is a great go-to. You can even double, triple, or quadruple the recipe as needed. Not only is spinach rice delicious, but it’s also high in calcium, magnesium, and nutrients, low in fat, vegan, and gluten-free. Win, win!
