Chicken Dim Sum | Chicken Momos

I cannot think of a certain cuisine or culture with no version of chicken soup. Folk medicine and chicken soup have a symbolic relationship because every mother or granny I have known always recommends chicken soup or dal rice as the restorative technique for coughs and colds. I must admit I am not too keen on plain yakhni soup as have to drink mugs of flavorsome broth while other soothing foods are time-consuming. I would rather shortlist the dim sum with some suggestions – Hashim fancies the dumpling with chicken and fresh veggies wrapped and steamed which would also be my choice. So when either of us is going through a slow recovery from cold or fever we would prefer to hog steamed dim sum, as they are super delicious, oil-free and the perfect fix for reduced appetite.

Meethi Dal or Meethi Kadhi is very common in Gujarati houses and is generally served as a side dish. It teams well with rice dishes like khichdi, vegetable pulao, and even with bhakri. There are oodles of ways to reshape the kadhi recipe and it changes state-wise. Mostly, kadhi recipes are given a touch of sour and spicy taste with a thick consistency, but this one flow towards the sweet side and is less thick.

I make them with chicken, and lots of cheese, they are super moist, tender, and flavoursome. This Kebab recipe is great for make-ahead meals. They will last in the fridge for up to 2 days, although they last more than a week – my advice would be to make less and eat fresh rather than freezing food for weeks - not a healthy choice.

I usually love the chill weather, seeing the leaves change colors and fruits showing up with its wonderful aroma in the air and all the wonderful things we can do when the weather cools. The fruit salad is perfect season gift as its light, requires no cooking, absolutely delicious and so addicting. You can use whichever fruit your heart desires! No dependency on any season. I love to make this particular one, again and again, because they are easy to make, and not too sweet.

Peas are my favorite; I have TONS of other wonderful Peas Recipes in the search box. These two recipes are very nutritious and so delicious! They are a good source of fiber, and veggies during winters are loaded with freshness and full of vitamins and minerals. Although I don’t want winter to end, I am looking ahead to more variation of vegetable dishes and vegan soups. The aromatic curry is Indian inspired, made with phenomenal spices. It cooks quickly and all in one pan, making it an excellent choice for an easy lunch on a busy day.

Chicken potato curry is a lighter cousin of Chicken korma, a great gateway dish for someone new to chicken curries. It has so much flavor, perfect over steamed rice to absorb all the delicious sauce. This amazing dish will make you look like you really know your way around the kitchen. The comforting gravy really makes the dish! For all of you Chicken lovers out there, this recipe is a keeper. I made a few adjustments to the recipe to suit our palate and make it lighter by cutting down on oil and changes in spices. The results were simply wonderful; a dish I have made a few times since. My tip for doing this is to cook it slow and low.

I love to bulk up spinach with rice, so my family can’t pick the greens out. And the truth is, Hashim never know it’s in there! Rice and spinach cook together, which gives the rice its green color. Onions, garlic, cumin, and whole spices give this dish so much aroma. This simple rice recipe is an easy one-pot meal. On a busy weeknight, this dish is a great go-to. You can even double, triple, or quadruple the recipe as needed.  Not only is spinach rice delicious, but it’s also high in calcium, magnesium, and nutrients, low in fat, vegan, and gluten-free. Win, win!
